The Tamsui District is located 1.5 hours by train outside the Taipei city region. It is at the edge of Taiwan, and is a seaside district that is filled with lots to see and do! To get to Tamsui, take the Tamsui-Xinyi Line to the last stop Tamsui Station.
When you're at the station, it is just a 10 minute walk to Tamsui Old Street. At the Old Street, try the delicious food and stroll along the many stores and market!
Head to the riverbank and take a nice long stroll. This area is also a great respite from the busy and dense Taipei city centre. Take a deep breath and take in the fresh wispy air the suburbs bring.
Take the chance to cruise on the river on the way to the next destination - Fisherman's Wharf!
The wharf is simply beautiful. Despite the hot sun, we strolled the area, grabbed a bite, and took many photographs against the breath-taking architecture and background by the sea. This place is also perfect for couples, be it taking pre-wedding photoshoots or just spending some time together. We spotted so many brides and grooms taking photographs at this region, no wonder it is named the Lover's Bridge!
This Spanish fort was built when Spain occupied Taiwan in the past. Now, the fort remains and is a historical tourist attraction.
So there you go, head for these 5 locations when you are heading to the Tamsui District in Taipei!
