Just look at the crowds at the cafe!

When to head to Pasteis de Belem?

Pick the non-peak hours to head to Belem! Avoid breakfast, lunch, and dinner time! You may also want to avoid Mondays as many of the tourist attractions at Belem are closed on Mondays!

How to get to Pasteis De Belem?

Since we went there twice, we shall share the two different ways that we took to get to Pasteis De Belem. On our first trip, we actually took the Hop On Hop Off Bus. There are a couple of companies that have the Hop On and Hop Off Buses but we liked City Sightseeing as they are a global company that offers these tour bus services in many other cities. Take the red line to get to the Belem area and alight at Mosteiro dos Jerónimos.

Want to travel on your own via the public transport? Grab yourself the Lisbon City Card, that gives you free entry to iconic destinations and access the public transport for free. To get to the Belem area, take tram 15 or 127 from Figueira Square!

What to order at Pasteis De Belem?

Choose to EAT IN, or TAKE OUT. For take outs, you'll have to probably queue outside the store to get the custard tarts. If you wish to eat in, walk into the cafe and get the attention of the staff to get your seats! They will probably direct you to a line to queue for your seats. Don't worry as you'll probably be able to get your seats in about 10 minutes or so of waiting.

When you finally get your seats, you absolutely have to order the Portuguese Custard Tarts. One per person is not enough, you'll probably have to order two per person! Try some of their other pastries as well and their freshly squeezed orange juice, or hot beverages, or even a cold beer! We also had their pizza and some fried stuff. Everything was good and affordably priced!
