This post was originally written on 3 November 2018. Unfortunately, Aburi Sushi Heishirou has ceased operations at Westgate Mall since 19 January 2019 and will be updating their new location on their Facebook Page when it reopens!
We had an amazing Japanese meal last week at Aburi Sushi Heishirou at Westgate Mall. We were looking for a Japanese restaurant to have our meal and figured that we should try out a restaurant that we haven't been to and we were pleasantly surprised at the food offerings at Aburi Sushi Heishirou!
Aburi Sushi Heishirou supposedly came from a popular chain of restaurants in Japan, they offer affordable set lunches and often have promotions for different items on their menu.
Service at Aburi Sushi Heishirou was very good as we were promptly seated after signalling to the staff that we needed a seat for two. They handed us a menu and allowed us to browse through before coming back again to check if we were ready to take our orders.
We ordered a Salmon Ikura Don Set, a Grilled Beef, their aburi sushi, and a mentaiko tamagoyaki. Everything costs us about 90 sgd. Even though the prices may seem steep for two, the quality of their food is top-notch! :)
The Salmon Ikura Bowl set came with some fried tori karaage, chawanmushi, salad, and a miso soup. The Salmon Sashimi was very fresh and most importantly, came in thick slices! :) There wasn't that much Ikura but it was sufficient for us. The tori karaage was really crispy on the outside and juicy in the inside. Crackling sounds can be heard as we bite into these bite-sized chunks of chicken.
The aburi sushi was delicious but not particularly outstanding. The seafood was cut in thick slices which you don't really get in other Japanese restaurants. They were really generous with the portions!
This was the Mentaiko Tamagoyaki. The egg roll was sweet and savoury when you take bites of the mentaiko. However, on hindsight, we should have taken the original one as it got a bit overwhelming towards the end.
The beef, was in our opinion, the STAR of the day! :) The friendly staff explained that the sauce was concocted by their very own chef and each piece was grilled perfectly! You can also see the pinking hues of the meat in the picture, absolutely delicious! :)
We ended our meal with a scoop of green tea ice cream each, which we got it for free when joining them as a member! (ps: membership is free!!)
Overall, we really enjoyed our meal and can't stop thinking about it (esp the beef!). We will definitely be back for more for the lunch sets and also the friendly staff told us that they sometimes have 50% off deals for their sashimi! Can't wait!! :)
