The check-in lobby was situated at a higher floor, and once you've arrived at the lobby, you'll see intricate Chinese art and elegant furnishings, setting a welcoming tone. I was greeted with friendly smiles from the staff, making me feel right at home. The efficient check-in process quickly led me to my room where the adventure truly began.

I appreciated the personal touch of being offered a refreshing drink while my details were processed. This attention to detail is what makes the Ritz Carlton distinguish itself from other luxury establishments. If you just have a look at the reviews, majority of guests rated their check-in experience as “excellent,” and I could certainly see why.

The Room: A Sanctuary of Comfort

As I entered my room, the breathtaking view of the city skyline left me speechless. The spacious layout featured tasteful decor that seamlessly merged contemporary design with classic elements. I especially like that the decor team picked Chengdu-relevant decor pieces like the Jinsha Golden Mask that were placed discreetly behind the study area.

The king-sized bed was a comfort haven, topped with plush pillows and high-quality linens. I found a well-appointed workspace, a cozy seating area, and a luxurious bathroom complete with a his and her sink, a soaking tub and a rain shower.

Attention to detail shone in every corner, from complimentary snacks to high-end toiletries. Each aspect was designed to ensure guests experience maximum comfort and convenience.

Breakfast experience

The breakfast buffet showcased an extensive array of international and local dishes. I particularly enjoyed freshly made dim sum, made-to-order egg counter, and a delightful selection of pastries, leaving me impressed with every bite. The only gripe I had was how crowded the dining experience was, but I mean, it is ultimately China. Nonetheless, we got a nice seat by the window and had a relaxing time there.

Exploring Chengdu

While the Ritz Carlton Chengdu boasts a wealth of amenities, I wanted to explore the city’s rich offerings. Chengdu is celebrated for its history, delicious food, and, of course, its adorable giant pandas.

I visited the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding where I saw these charming creatures up close. With over 80 pandas living at the facility, this educational experience is a must for anyone traveling to Chengdu.

Furthermore, I strolled through Jinli Ancient Street, sampling local snacks like spicy rice cakes and sweet tangyuan, and admiring the beautifully preserved traditional architecture. The city’s mix of modern and traditional elements creates a captivating atmosphere that you won't want to miss.

Exceptional Service

What truly distinguishes the Ritz Carlton Chengdu is the exceptional service provided by the staff. From the concierge to housekeeping, every team member went above and beyond to ensure my stay was flawless. Like all other Ritz Carlton, the turn-down service was exceptional. When I returned to the room, there was a bottled water and a glass by the side of my bed, bedroom slippers placed at the side, with the sheets gently pulled down, getting me ready for bed!

Not to mention, the concierge was especially helpful in arranging transportation and providing tailored recommendations for local attractions. Their extensive knowledge of the city not only made my explorations seamless but also immensely enjoyable.
