Who says there's nothing to eat in the West? Gochi-So Shokudo at Westgate, Jurong East

Are the good eats really located only in the Eastern part of Singapore? There's actually quite a bunch of gems at Westgate really, like Aburi Sushi Heishirou! A recent restaurant that has moved to the West is Gochi-So Shokudo! This gem started its first outlet in the CBD, at the basement of One Raffles Place. It serves delicious iberico pork dons with addictive sauces and they are generous with their servings!

Iberico pork is like the Wagyu Beef of Pork. Iberico refers to black pigs that come from the Iberian Peninsular. These black pigs are fed barley and maize for weeks before allowing them to wander in the pastures as they consume naturally on grass, acorns, roots, and herbs. For the finest Ibérico, these pigs will adhere to strict diets limited to acorns or olives right before slaughtering time. In Spain, people eat Jamón Ibérico (the cured version of Iberico pork) on a slice of toasted bread, which is rubbed with tomatoes and garlic, with a drizzle of olive oil. Like the Italians who have their prosciutto ham with melons, Jamón Ibérico is thought to be best served with a slice of melon on hot days in Summer.

But you know how some of us Asians simply don't like having a cold meal at the end of a long work day, grilled Iberico pork with the Asian staple, rice, is like the best thing!

For frugal Singaporeans, you'll be happy to know that they are currently having a 50% off their Pork Jowl Bowl! Ah, a pity that we only found out about this promotion today! Otherwise, we'll probably be heading over every other day for that juicy and fatty goodness! To be eligible for this deal, all you got to do is to Like Gochi-So Shokudo on Facebook, Share their post on Facebook, and let the staff know that you are using this deal! (We are in no way sponsored by Gochi-So Shokudo, just really sharing the meal that we've enjoyed!)

Just look at the fatty pork! mmmmmmm, it was nicely grilled and served on top of soft, fluffy rice, alongside some condiments and a poached egg. All this for $13.90 (usual price) and now going for 50% (for dining in only)!

You know how sometimes when a restaurant does a promotion on one of their products, you'll get smaller portions and sub-standard quality, but we really felt that they offered great value even though we were paying an insane $6.90 for this!

Besides their don, their tonkatsu also looks great (we have yet to try it but we peered over our neighbours' tables).

Upon ordering your your meal, you can also purchase an add-on of $3 for 3 pieces of Enoki Mushroom wrapped with Pork plus a bowl of miso soup. This was really good as the pork was really fatty and juicy (I'm hungry just thinking of it!).

The restaurant offers a fuss-free dining experience, head first to the counter to make your order and they will arrange a seat for you. Iced water is available for free, on a self-service basis. Then, just sit back and relax as the chefs prepare your meals. It wasn't a long waiting period even during the busy dinner time and we got our meals in about 10 minutes or so.

So, what are you waiting for? Grab the deal and head for some Iberico Pork Jowl bowl now! :)
