When you feel that you haven't had sufficient shopping and still have a couple of hours to spare before heading to the airport, consider making a pit stop at Mitsui Outlet Park Linkou, located just a few stops before Taipei Taoyuan Airport.
On our final day in Taipei, we had some time in the morning to kill before our afternoon flight. Rather than roaming around the same few places that we've been to in Taipei, we decided to make our way to the outlet mall in Linkou. Mitsui could also be your first stop when you've just arrived in Taipei due to its close proximity to the airport.
What are the shops at Mitsui Outlet Park Linkou?
Mitsui Outlet Park Shopping Mall is a large outlet mall operated by the Japanese Mitsui Group (三井グループ). There are both the indoor and outdoor segment of the mall. The indoor mall also called the In Mall contains a large variety of shops and a large food court and lots of restaurants. At the basement, there is even a grocery store. The third floor also contains a cinema. The Mitsui Outlet Park is a great respite for Taiwanese to spend a day out with their family and friends dining at these restaurants. The outdoor mall, called the Out Mall, holds most of the sporting stores.

Is the Mitsui Outlet Park Worth Going?
Yes, definitely! We managed to get some great finds there! For instance, the popular Porter International has an outlet store in the In Mall and if you are not particular about the colour, you'll get to snag finds up to 60 - 70 per cent discount!
There was also a shoe store that sells Superga and I managed to get a pair at less than 50 per cent of the usual price! For those who have lots of space in their luggage may also want to consider household items like Le Creuset and Zwilling. Sportswear like Nike, Adidas, Puma, also have great discounts for their past-season products. So if you are a sportswear junkie, you'll find many great deals there!
For those who are looking for mid-range American and European luxury products, you'll find stores like Coach, Kate Spade, Polo Ralph Lauren, Guess, and Marc Jacobs. The deals definitely aren't going to be as great if you shop in the United States or in European cities but for the past season products, you'll snag some deals that are cheaper in the retail outlets in Taipei City.
How to get to Mitsui Outlet Park Linkou from Taipei?
By Train
It is easy to get to the Mitsui Outlet Park from Taipei. It is quite similar of the reverse of getting from the airport to the city centre. However, instead of taking the airport express train right through, take the commuter train to A9 Linkou. For a faster option, take the express train and transfer to the commuter train at A8 station.
When you are at A9 Linkou station, the Mitsui Outlet mall is a 5-minute walk away. You actually can see the mall from the station so just walk towards it!
By Shuttle Bus
Mitsui Outlet Park also operates a free shuttle bus that comes every 20 to 30 minutes between the outlet mall and the following locations: MRT Taipei Bridge, MRT Yuanshan, MRT Nanshijiao, MRT Xinzhuang, MRT Xinpu, and HSR Taoyuan.
