Suk’s Thai Kitchen: Affordable, Hearty Thai Food

Missing Thailand for its vast variety of affordable Thai food? Although we can’t quite get prices like these in Singapore, Suk’s Thai does come close to having delicious food without a high price tag!

Located just 300m and a 4 minute walk from Farrer Park MRT, you’ll find Suk’s Thai at the corner of Tessensohn Road and Rangoon Road. Here, it is also close to Old Hen Coffee and Enchanted Cafe so you could also head over for a cuppa after your meal.

Pineapple Fried Rice

The pineapple fried rice ($8) came in a generous portion, with chunks of pineapple, prawns, crunchy cashew nuts and some Chinese sausage. It was flavourful with wok hei!

Phad Thai

The Phad Thai ($8) came piping hot, served with chilli flakes, peanuts, beansprouts and a wedge of lime at the side. The noodles were chewy and every portion was nicely seasoned. Though it wasn’t my favourite phad Thai, (I prefer the orangey and sweeter versions) it was still very tasty!

Clear Tom Yum Soup

Looks can be deceiving for this clear soup. It doesn’t look like it could harm you but it is spicy! It also doesn’t look very appetising when it came but oh boy, we finished every single last drop of this soup.

Prawn Omelette

This dish is not recommended for those who are on a diet because Thai omelettes are made with lots of oil!

We chose the ones that came with prawns and I would say, it’s very much the same flavour with or without the seafood or meat.

Grilled Pork Neck

Finally, we were served with an extremely generous portion of grilled pork neck. In most Thai restaurants in Singapore, their grilled meats often come in skewers or in a measly portion. But Suk’s Thai Kitchen gave a sumptuous portion. Each piece of pork was perfectly browned! :)

All in all, we were pleasantly surprised and delighted with the generous portion and the affordable price tag. We loved the level of spice in all the dishes and it was a hearty meal to have with friends and you can even order some alcoholic drinks to go with your food!
