Ramen, a Japanese noodle soup dish, has become a popular comfort food all around the world, and London is no exception.
Fancy some piping hot ramen while roaming the cold streets in London? Check out Shoryu Ramen for delicious tonkotsu (pork-broth) ramen!
Where is Shoryu located?
Located in several locations across London, including Soho, Oxford Circus, and Covent Garden, Shoryu Ramen offers authentic Hakata tonkotsu ramen, a pork bone-based broth that is rich, creamy, and full of flavour. The broth is simmered for over 12 hours to ensure maximum depth of flavour, and it is paired with thin, chewy noodles and various toppings such as sliced pork belly, bamboo shoots, and soft boiled egg.
As an Asian, and having tried some of the best ramen in Japan (think Ichiran, Ippudo, etc), the standard of Shoryu Ramen is really good! Hakata style ramen is used and is topped with a thick flavourful tonkotsu broth! Also, Shoryu Ramen actually has a store in Japan. This is something important for us whenever we look at franchised store. If it is a Japanese restaurant but doesn't originate from Japan - then is it Japanese?
What to order at Shoryu Ramen?
One of the standout dishes at Shoryu Ramen is the Shoryu Ganso Tonkotsu ramen, which features their signature broth, thin noodles, and a generous portion of succulent pork belly. For those who prefer a spicier option, the Karaka Tantan ramen is a great choice, with a spicy and nutty broth that packs a punch.
In addition to the ramen, Shoryu Ramen also offers a variety of other dishes, such as Japanese fried chicken, gyoza, and rice bowls. They also have a range of sake, Japanese beers, and cocktails to complement the meal.
The decor of Shoryu Ramen is modern and sleek, with a mix of traditional Japanese elements and contemporary design. The restaurant has an open kitchen, allowing diners to watch the chefs prepare the dishes, adding to the overall dining experience.
We actually chanced upon it while waiting for our flat iron steak! The wait was too long and we were too hungry to wait so we decided to pop into this store for warmth and to fill our hungry stomachs! Since the last time we've been there, Shoryu has expanded to 13 stores in the United Kingdom!
If you are craving for some good ramen, then Shoryu Ramen is a must-visit destination. With its authentic tonkotsu broth, chewy noodles, and delicious toppings, it offers a truly satisfying and comforting meal. Whether you're in the mood for a hearty bowl of ramen or some tasty Japanese appetizers, Shoryu Ramen is the perfect spot to indulge in some hot, piping ramen in London, United Kingdom.

Where to stay in London, United Kingdom?
Looking for the perfect mid-tier hotels to stay at during your trip to London, United Kingdom? After having stayed at multiple hotels throughout our visits to London, we have compiled a list of our favourite accommodations:
First on our list is the Paramount Hotel, which is situated in a quiet neighbourhood near Earl's Court metro station. This guest-house-like property boasts spacious and tidy rooms, making for a comfortable stay. The Earl's Court region is ideal for travellers on a budget, as it features a variety of reasonably priced hotels while still providing access to the station within Zone 1. Additionally, a 24-hour Sainsbury Local is conveniently located just a 4-minute walk from the hotel.
On another occasion, we tried the Ibis Styles London Kensington Hotel, part of the AccorHotels chain. Like the Paramount Hotel, this hotel is also just a 2-minute walk from Earl's Court Station and a 4-minute walk from Sainsbury's Local. However, the rooms are slightly smaller and may lack the homely feel of the Paramount Hotel. Nevertheless, the modern rooms and high-quality service expected from an international chain make it a great option for travellers.
